FIFA World Cup™ 2014 Schedule

us-soccer-dont-tread-on-meThe FIFA World Cup™ 2014 Brazil schedule was determined today.

The United States was drawn into a very difficult Group G, perhaps the feared “Group of Death”, along with perennial super-powers Germany, Portugal, and Ghana who has essentially eliminated the USA in the last two World Cups. One leading story-line is that USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who was a former star player for the German national team and was Germany’s coach for the 2006 World Cup hosts, faces his home-country’s team. The United States also has the most difficult travel schedule of all the teams in the tournament with an anticipated 9,000 miles of travel with matches in the far inland, tropical Manaus. This is definitely not a draw that many US soccer supporters were hoping for.

England was drawn into Group D in the third position with Uruguay, Costa Rica, and four-time World Champions Italy.

There will be several tough groups in this summer’s tournament. Group B is also considered a “Group of Death” with Spain, the defending World Cup Champions as well as the 2008 & 2012 European Champions. They will open on the second day of the tournament with a rematch of the 2010 World Cup final over the Netherlands.

The USA opens on Monday, June 16th at 6:00pm EDT.

Here is the United States’ schedule (all times EDT):
Monday, June 16 at 6:00pm vs. Ghana
